Cultural Science
Children are natural scientists, eager to understand their world and their place in it. Through hands-on exploration of biology, geography, and physical sciences, we nurture this curiosity into deep understanding.
"...to search out the deep truth of life, to lift a veil from its fascinating secrets, and who, in this pursuit, has felt arising within him a love for the mysteries of nature..."
~ Maria Montessori, The Montessori Method

A world of discovery
Dr. Montessori believed cultural education helps children develop their personalities and understand both their own culture and the world around them. Our educators thoughtfully guide this journey of self-discovery through carefully prepared experiences and materials.

Natural scientists at work
Our educators nurture each child's innate scientific curiosity through meaningful experiments and real-world exploration. From tending gardens to conducting simple experiments, children develop scientific thinking while discovering the interconnectedness of all things.

Cultural Sciences in the Nido and Infant Community
Even our youngest children are natural explorers of their world. Through everyday experiences, babies and toddlers discover the wonders of nature, music, and art. Children develop early scientific understanding through caring for classroom animals and exploring outdoor spaces. Sensory activities like painting and clay work, helping develop motor skills and hand-eye coordination while encouraging free expression.

Cultural Sciences in the Children's House
In the Children's House, children's natural curiosity about science and the world flourishes. Through carefully designed materials and real-world experiences, they begin to discover the interconnectedness of all living things. From understanding how plants and animals depend on each other, to exploring different cultures and traditions, children develop an appreciation for their place in our global community.
Biology
Children discover the basic principles of living organisms by caring for our gardens and watching plants grow from seed to sprout.
Botany
By exploring real plants and matching cards, children learn about plant parts, growth cycles, and their role in our ecosystem.
Zoology
Children learn about and develop respect for animals through classification activities and care of classroom pets.
Geography
Sandpaper Globes and world maps help children discover their place in the world and learn about continents, countries, and features.
History
Through activities like creating family trees, children explore concepts of time, personal history, and human civilization.
Physical Sciences
Simple experiments like sink and float activities help children discover scientific principles of force, energy, and material properties.
Music and Movement
Children explore sound, pitch, and rhythm through instruments and dance, developing musicality and coordination.
Visual Arts
Creative expression flourishes through drawing, painting, and sculpture, with various materials available for artistic exploration.
