Tailored Childcare Management is a family company which has been offering services in the childcare field since 1993. We specialise in Montessori Childcare. We have a list of public and personal achievements of which we are proud. These include:

  • Development of centres including “greenfields” and refurbishment.
  • Service delivery in a highly diverse client base including; low socio-economic families, migrants, unusual family structures, religious/cultural diversity, special needs, professional families and traditional nuclear families.

Services tailored to your needs

The services offered by TCM will have the flexibility to respond to your centre’s individual needs.

Our full management service includes:

  1. Provision of a “Field Consultant” who has primary contact with the centre. Contact time at the centre to be not less than an average 4 hours per week. This role includes responsibility for:
  1. Quality oversight – including accountability in financial aspects, centre programs and routine duties.
  2. Support – for programming, training, Director’s leadership, staffing, promotions/marketing, computer systems, Child Care Benefit issues, and other administrative aspects of Centre operations.
  3. Administration – payroll and accounts.
  4. Reporting each month and additionally as required – to Principal and to TCM in accordance with policy.
  5. Troubleshooting – resolving issues and difficulties which occur during normal centre operations.
  6. Training – On-the-job training whilst present at the centre as well as attendance with training delivery at two staff meetings per year. TCM centres are also invited to attend other TCM training sessions either at cost or free. Traineeships can also be organised.
  7. Relief staff systems.
  1. Provision of additional support personnel when required for particular needs such as computer systems, accreditation, licensing and development. Regular checking of performance of the field consultant.New Centres:
  1. Advice and support in the design/development phase. This could vary from full project management in conjunction with the architect to hourly consultancy for opinion and advice.
  2. Staffing, stocking, software and providing “start-up” policies for new services.
  3. Opinion for Due Diligence.
  4. Cash Flow Budget support.
  5. Assistance with Bank Applications.
  6. Any other appropriate need.

Senior team members

John McKinnon: 
Company Director. John had a career in finance prior to moving full time into his family business. He has knowledge of small business accounting needs and has instructed in the development of our customised Child Care computer program.

Gloria McKinnon: 
Company Director. Gloria is John’s wife and had a career in teaching, including the completion of a Graduate Diploma of Education (Computing) prior to moving into Childcare. Her contributions are wide ranging and include: important input into the design of the centres, stock and orders and keeping abreast of changes and requirements of the industry.

Vicki Ward: 
CEO. (BMusEd. GradDipED – EC. DipMont.Ed. CertIV WA&T) Vicki is the daughter of John and Gloria. She spent a number of years as a Secondary Music Teacher before studying Early Childhood and moving into the Childcare field. Vicki was the Director of the centre at Inala for 7 years and was the key player in the development of Wavell Heights. She obtained the Diploma of Montessori in 2002. Vicki has a great deal of experience in working positively with staff, parents and government departments, as well as staff selection, training, warning/counselling and conflict management. She has also completed a Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training.

Karen Smith: 
Centre Director. (DipTeach. – EC. B. Ed) Karen worked for Oakbridge Investments for 4 years from 1996 to 2000. During this period Karen was “contact Director and Preschool Teacher”, before returning in 2002 to the position of Director at Wavell Heights. She has a Bachelor of Education as well as Early Childhood qualifications. In 2003 she completed training and during 2003-2004 served as a Validator for the National Childcare Accreditation Council. Karen regularly visits centres to assess standards.
